PC builder questions

Is the PC Part Hunt PC builder free?

Yes. Building and checking a PC is free and needs no account. The build is saved in the page address, so you can bookmark it or share the link.

What does the PC builder check?

It checks that the processor socket matches the motherboard, that the memory type (DDR4 or DDR5) matches the board, that laptop memory is not used in a desktop, that the board fits the case, and that the power supply has enough wattage. It also flags a processor with no graphics and no graphics card, a processor sold without a cooler, boards that need a BIOS update for newer processors, 16-pin graphics card power, a single memory stick, and graphics card length, cooler height and radiator size against the case when the store titles give them.

What is the build score out of 100?

It sums five things for what the PC is for (gaming, editing and work, or office and home): whether the parts fit (40 points), whether the power supply covers the build (15), how the money is split between processor and graphics card (25), memory (10), and whether every essential part is picked (10). Each point is explained next to the score.

Can I save or print my PC build?

Yes. Share build copies a link that opens the same build. Save PDF opens your browser's print window, where you can choose Save as PDF for a clean parts list with prices and stores.

Is there a ready-made PC build I can start from?

Yes. The template builds page has 1080p gaming, 1440p gaming, editing and office builds filled with parts in stock today. Open one in the builder to change any part.

Are the prices in the PC builder live?

Yes. Each part shows the lowest in-stock price across 10 Indian stores, checked about every 6 hours, and the store that has it. The total adds those prices; the parts can be at different stores.

How much power supply do I need for my PC?

The builder adds up an estimate of each part's power draw and recommends a power supply with about 30% headroom over that total. Pick your processor and graphics card to see the figure.

Does PC Part Hunt sell the parts?

No. PC Part Hunt compares prices and links to the stores. You buy from the store, and the store's checkout price is final.
